NASA satelite data

NASA

If it cmomes to provide a variety of free satelite data the NASA websites are the place to go, in perticular since the search for data is much faster, the variety much bigger and maybe most important their interfaces are much more user-friendly than from ESA.

  • Reverb is probably the best entry point at the present when you are in the need of any freely available NASA data.
With a login (free account can be created on the website) it is also the best source to download the ASTER Global Elevation Data (GDEM). In addition, if you brought Aster scenes or requested it (small proposal required) this is where you can select your area of interest and download them. It is an extremely fast and stable website and the customer service if you really encounter a problem or have a question is extremely fast and friendly.

A nice website indicating the location of the NASA data centers can be found at: http://earthdata.nasa.gov/data/data-centers

Moreover, on http://earthdata.nasa.gov/about-eosdis/system-description/eosdis-data-centers-daacs there is a list with all the data centeres and their main data collection, including a link to the corresponding data centere website and an contact email (if required)
